Product Design

So this is a prototype of my final business class project where we had to come up with an illustrated product that we could potentially sell. I decided to go green and develop a cork board made of recycled wine corks. The turtle will be printed using vegetable inks and recycled paper. I'll post an image of the final product once I finish.

Thesis Project

Here's a few pieces that I've done for my thesis class. The first two are my interpretations of the Origin of Species and The Double Helix. The purpose of this project is to interpret the main ideas discussed in these books both accurately and beautifully. The other image was a preliminary piece for my thesis class which shows the positive and negative sides of drug testing.

So it's been a little while since my last post. Though, now that i'm done this crazy semester, I can devote more time to my personal work and posting stuff more often! He're a couple of recent portraits I did in watercolour. The one on the right is of Michael Caine (from a photo by Nadav Kander) and the left one is of the singer Eleanor Jackson, more commonly known as La Roux (from a photo by John Londono.)

I'm trying a few new things with scratchboard. For this quick rendering of Audrey Tautou playing Coco Chanel I used a mix of scratchboard gesso and oil paint. I tried creating a textured shirt and hat by applying and then scraping gesso off the board and applying paint on the white areas.

Here's my final Avenue Page! The piece is a school project thought it is intended to be for a one page newspaper spread in the National Post.
